Woori Financial Group Chairman Yim Jong-yong, who also heads the Woori Financial Future Foundation, met with teenage single parents to recognize their progress toward independence.
Yim held the meeting on the 3rd at the Archdiocese of Seoul office in Jung-gu, central Seoul, together with Koo Yo-bi, vicar general of the Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul, and Won Min-kyung, minister of gender equality and family. Six beneficiaries of the "Woori Wonder Family" program attended and described how they achieved independence while raising children and pursuing studies or employment at the same time. Woori Wonder Family is a corporate social responsibility program run by the Woori Financial Future Foundation to help teenage single parents, who are prone to financial hardship and social isolation, settle into society. Launched in 2023 with living-expense support, the program expanded this year to cover scholarships, medical costs and incentive payments. The foundation presented the six participants with scholarships and congratulatory awards worth up to 3 million won each, based on their achievements.
"I was moved by your courage and determination in producing results despite difficult circumstances," Yim said. "I hope today's success stories become a source of hope for the many teenage single parents who hesitate to take on new challenges."
