S-OIL (010950.KS) said on the 28th that it will sponsor the Marathon of Inspiration, an event hosted by the Korea Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, to mark the company's 50th anniversary.
The race brings together runners with and without disabilities and will be held on October 4 at Peace Plaza in Seoul's Mapo District. Marathoner Lee Bong-ju will serve as race director. Participants will run along the Nanji loop trail, passing Peace Lawn Plaza and Haneul Park.
All entry fees will be donated to the Korea Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, and donors will receive tax receipts. Participants with disabilities, including those with developmental or visual impairments, may bring one guide runner free of charge.
S-OIL supported people with disabilities through the marathon for 14 years from 2006 to 2019, and has resumed sponsorship this year to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
"This is a special race where runners with and without disabilities respect each other's pace and run together," Lee said. "Beyond times and rankings, it will be a place to cheer one another on and share the values of challenge and hope." He added: "For runners across the country, each step becomes warm encouragement and new courage for someone else. I hope many people will run together and create the emotion of the finish line and memories they will treasure for a long time."
