Geo-Young inspected fire risks at its logistics center together with fire authorities.
The pharmaceutical distributor said on the 28th that it held an on-site inspection by the fire chief and a field adaptation drill with the Incheon Gyeyang Fire Station on the 26th at its Incheon center in Hyoseong-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. The inspection and drill were designed to identify vulnerabilities at logistics and distribution sites in advance and to prepare an effective on-site response strategy in the event of a fire.
About 20 firefighters, including Gyeyang Fire Station Chief Song Tae-cheol, took part along with nine fire vehicles such as a command vehicle and pump trucks. Before the inspection, Geo-Young executives and staff briefed fire authorities on the center's general conditions and discussed cooperation measures for initial response to emergencies in a meeting.
In the field adaptation drill that followed, fire vehicles moved along routes from entry to deployment at the center under a simulated fire, and an aerial ladder truck was extended against the building's exterior wall, as participants drew up an on-site response strategy tailored to the center's conditions. Fire authorities classify large logistics warehouses as facilities where firefighting and rescue operations are difficult because of their structure and storage conditions.
Park Woong, executive vice president of Geo-Young's logistics division, said the company maintains thorough safety management because pharmaceutical logistics centers serve as base facilities in the supply chain for essential medicines. "We will operate a standing cooperation system with fire authorities to leave no gaps in fire prevention," Park said.
