Hanwha Corp. (000880) said on the 27th that it will hold the Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026 on the 5th of next month at Hangang Park in Yeouido. The company moved the event to early October from late September last year, taking into account the Chuseok holiday period and demand from foreign tourists.
The main fireworks show begins at 8 p.m. with a performance by the British team. The U.S. team takes the stage at 8:20 p.m., and from 8:40 p.m. Hanwha Corp., representing the Korean team, stages a 30-minute finale inspired by Vincent van Gogh's "The Starry Night."
This year's edition adds a "tower fireworks" display and a "bridge sequence" using Wonhyo Bridge. A "decalcomania" effect, with symmetrical displays in the skies on both sides of the bridge, is designed to allow three-dimensional viewing across a wide area.
The company also stepped up safety management. About 5,000 personnel will be deployed for safety and crowd control, the largest number to date, including 1,200 volunteers from among Hanwha employees. Organizers will apply Orange Safety, a telecom-based system that measures crowd density in real time, along with a safety management system using KT's 5G network slicing technology, monitoring closed-circuit screens across the venue in real time. A joint command center will also operate with related agencies including the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Metropolitan Fire and Disaster Headquarters and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
For those unable to attend in person, the festival will be streamed live on Hanwha TV, the company's official YouTube channel.
After the event, a "clean campaign" led by Hanwha volunteers will clear the Yeouido and Ichon areas of Hangang Park, alongside a "10 minutes slower" campaign in which spectators take part voluntarily.
The Seoul International Fireworks Festival has been run by Hanwha Group as a corporate social responsibility program since 2000 and draws more than 1 million visitors each year.
