A customer in her 30s using Banksalad, a loan comparison platform, recently saved 9.3 million won (about $6,700) in annual interest by requesting a rate cut through an artificial intelligence agent. The AI-driven request lowered her interest rate by 7.21 percentage points.
Banksalad said on the 27th that a growing number of customers are using its AI-based rate reduction request service.
The service is designed to have an AI agent minimize interest payments on behalf of customers. When a customer's credit rating or credit score improves — because of higher income or loan repayments, for example — the AI detects the change, files a rate reduction request on the customer's behalf and reports the outcome.
Banksalad also works to raise the odds of success by improving customers' credit scores before filing a request. The platform lifts a customer's credit score once, then applies for a rate cut to increase the chances of approval. Customers using the AI agent secured a rate reduction after an average of 1.7 attempts. The company said the number of customers using its AI-based rate reduction requests more than doubled last month from March.
A Banksalad official said the right to request a rate reduction is structured in a way that makes it difficult for customers to pursue on their own even when they meet the conditions. "Cases in which the AI agent manages this on their behalf and leads to actual interest savings are increasing," the official said, adding that the company will offer a differentiated experience in which customers maintain optimal loan terms without any extra effort.
