Daewoo Engineering & Construction (047040.KS) said on the 26th that four of its projects have been named finalists at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the United States.
The four are the sunken plaza at Lacerbo Prugio Summit, the Summit Gallery in Namcheon, the Summit Gallery in Seomyeon, and a Prugio designer garden called "The Luminous Grove of Stone." Three of the entries are spatial designs for Summit, the company's high-end residential brand, and one is a Prugio landscape design.
The IDEA awards are organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and are considered one of the world's three major design prizes alongside Germany's iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award.
The Lacerbo Prugio Summit sunken plaza won a main prize at Germany's iF Design Awards in March before being named an IDEA finalist. The design reinterprets chagyeong, a traditional Korean architectural concept of borrowing outside scenery as part of an interior space, drawing nature and surrounding views indoors. The company said the approach embodies the "modern Koreanness" that the Summit brand pursues.
The Summit galleries in Namcheon and Seomyeon are showcase spaces built so visitors can experience the brand's design philosophy. "The Luminous Grove of Stone" applies the concept of the Prugio designer garden unveiled at last year's Seoul International Garden Show to the Jeongeup Prugio The First complex, stacking stone in layers to create both a sense of openness and space for rest.
"It is significant that we have presented Summit's distinctive spatial philosophy and Prugio's competitiveness in landscape design on a global stage," an official at Daewoo Engineering & Construction said. "We will continue to set new standards for residential spaces based on our technology and design innovation."
