Samsung Card (029780) is teaming up with Korea Expressway Corporation to use spending and mobility data for safety management at local festivals and to promote regional tourism.
Samsung Card said on the 25th that it had signed a data-based memorandum of understanding with Korea Expressway Corporation. The two sides plan to build a range of collaboration models drawing on Samsung Card's consumer spending data and the highway operator's mobility data collected at rest areas.
As a first step, they will launch a service that shows crowd levels at local festival sites through Monimo, Samsung's integrated financial platform. The aim is to help local governments gauge visitor numbers and congestion for use in safety management and in drawing up tourism and regional economic policies.
The partners will also analyze the travel and spending patterns of rest area users to develop tailored services and improve operational efficiency. Samsung Card has been providing regional consumption analysis through its Data Lab service Living Economy MAP.
"We will continue to expand data-sharing models based on Samsung Card's data analytics capabilities," a Samsung Card official said.
