Hyundai Motor Securities (001500) has appointed Jang Moon-soo, an analyst known for his expertise in the auto industry, as its new head of research. The brokerage also plans to reorganize the research center to strengthen its corporate analysis function.
Jang will take over from Roh Keun-chang, who steps down as research head on the 1st of next month, Hyundai Motor Securities said on the 25th. Jang joined the firm in 2018 and has covered the mobility and auto sectors, earning repeated selections as a best analyst. Born in 1982, Jang is 13 years younger than Roh, who was born in 1969.
The research center will be restructured from three teams — corporate analysis, investment strategy and global research — into four: corporate analysis teams 1 and 2, a global investment strategy team and a research operations support team. The firm plans to widen the research center's support beyond institutional sales to include its pension and wealth management divisions. The newly created operations support team will take over administrative work previously handled separately by each team, aiming to improve overall efficiency at the research center.
"Through horizontal and vertical synergy among analysts, we will expand our network and new coverage while concentrating analytical capabilities on existing coverage, to develop top-tier analysts across a range of sectors," Jang said.
