HS Hyosung Advanced Materials (298050) has reached cumulative sales of 100 million square meters of automotive carpet through HS Hyosung USA, its US production base linked to the interior PU business.
HS Hyosung USA said on the 16th that its cumulative automotive carpet sales surpassed 100 million square meters as of June this year, and that it held an in-house event to mark the milestone. The cumulative 100 million square meters is equivalent to about 34 times the area of Seoul's Yeouido (based on 2.9 square kilometers inside the Yunjungno embankment). Given that 5 square meters of carpet is used per vehicle, the volume corresponds to 20 million automobiles.
HS Hyosung USA explained that the increase in product sales resulted from focusing on recycled PET carpet marketing amid the expansion of the US electric vehicle market and the growing trend of automakers adopting eco-friendly interior materials. At the same time, the company has built a foundation for growth by steadily increasing supply of next-generation customized products to major local automakers, including Hyundai Motor in the US, General Motors (GM) and Tesla.
Recently, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials' interior PU business has been strengthening its new product lineup to target the rapidly growing sustainable mobility materials market. Representative examples include "Bio-Based PET Carpet," which contains 30% bio-based ingredients derived from sugarcane to reduce the use of petrochemical resources, "Recycled PET Carpet," made from recycled discarded plastic bottles, and "Recycled NYLON Carpet," made from recycled waste fishing nets.
"Building on the cumulative achievement of 100 million square meters, attained through long-standing trust with global automakers, we will continue to lead trends in the global automotive carpet market with our unrivaled technology and eco-friendly new products," an HS Hyosung USA official said.
