The stocks most heavily net-bought by high-return investors trading through Mirae Asset Securities (006800.KS) on the morning of the 14th were Samsung SDI, APR, Dalba Global, and SK, in that order.
According to Mirae Asset Securities that day, the stock most heavily purchased by the 14th until 11 a.m. by "top stock experts"—those in the top 1% of investment returns over the past month among the brokerage's stock trading clients—was Samsung SDI (006400.KS). As of 11:20 a.m. that day, Samsung SDI was trading at 416,000 won, down 24,000 won, or 5.45%, from the previous session.
The buying appears to reflect an influx of bargain-hunting demand as the stock's decline relative to its fundamentals came into focus. Samsung SDI surged to a high of 712,000 won on a closing-price basis in April this year but has steadily weakened since. It has fallen about 15% this month alone, widening its decline to a level similar to that of Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) (-18%), the largest company by market capitalization.
However, sentiment in the securities industry views Samsung SDI's fundamental outlook positively. Yuanta Securities issued a report that day projecting that Samsung SDI's second-quarter operating results would exceed consensus. Lee An-na, a researcher at Yuanta Securities, explained, "A bottleneck in energy storage systems (ESS) for AI data centers in the United States is expected, and we anticipate this will serve as a key share-price momentum for Samsung SDI as well."
According to Yuanta Securities, Samsung SDI's projected second-quarter revenue and operating profit are 3.7 trillion won and 95 billion won, respectively, expected to exceed the consensus (3.7 trillion won and negative 52.3 billion won). Lee added, "One-off factors such as tariff refunds are significant, and on the business side, it is driven by continued top-line growth in North American ESS amid a recovery in utilization rates for European electric vehicles (EV) and rising demand for small battery backup units (BBU)."
The second-ranked net buy was APR (278470.KS). That day, APR was changing hands at 369,000 won, down 2.89% from the previous session. Leading Investment & Securities issued a report that day raising its target price for APR to 520,000 won from the previous 380,000 won. Yoo Sung-man, a researcher at Leading Investment & Securities, said, "We expect this year's revenue and operating profit to increase 100.4% and 109.3% from a year earlier to 3.06 trillion won and 765 billion won, respectively," adding, "We forecast top-line expansion driven by strong global growth in cosmetics and growth in devices."
The top net-sold stocks that day were SK hynix (000660.KS), Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor (005380.KS), and Samsung Electro-Mechanics preferred shares (009155.KS), in that order. On the previous session (the 13th), the top net-bought stocks were Sungho Electronics (043260.KS), Samsung Electro-Mechanics (009150.KS), SK hynix, and PSK (319660.KS). The top net-sold stocks were Samsung Electronics, Samsung Securities (016360.KS), Iljin Electric (103590.KS), and Pharma Research (214450.KS), in that order.
