Bando Engineering & Construction has partnered with a supplier to develop new technologies aimed at improving safety and construction quality at building sites.
Bando said on the 9th that it signed a business agreement with Baro Construction Technology to jointly develop three new technologies: a "bend reinforcement," a "foundation reinforcement," and a "continuous bar chair." The two companies are currently proceeding with the new-technology registration process for the technologies.
The three technologies under development focus on reducing quality variations and work inefficiencies that repeatedly occur during housing construction. The staircase bend reinforcement is a technology that installs a diamond-shaped prefabricated reinforcement at the joints connecting stairs and landings. Compared with the existing method of binding rebar with wire, it lowers the possibility of deformation and helps ensure uniform construction.
The continuous bar chair is a method that introduces prefabricated products with triangular supports arranged at regular intervals to the site. Compared with the existing horse-rebar method, in which individual rebar was repeatedly installed based on worker experience, it can reduce construction time and lower quality variation.
The foundation reinforcement is a technology that disperses stress as the load from the top of a column is transferred to the floor. When applied, it can secure the stability of the foundation while reducing concrete thickness and material use, according to the company.
Bando expects the three new technologies to simultaneously improve construction efficiency and quality stability, while also contributing to reducing the use of construction materials such as rebar and concrete. Once the development of the new technologies is completed, the company plans to use them as ESG construction technologies that can produce positive effects across site safety, customer satisfaction, and the environment.
"We plan to continue shared growth with our partners so that we can achieve both the safety of on-site workers and customer satisfaction, rather than stopping at building homes that merely look good," said Lee Jeong-ryeol, head of Bando's construction division. "We will continue our efforts to develop technologies that benefit businesses, consumers, and the environment alike."
