Samsung Display and LG Display have both received the "Display of the Year" award from the Society for Information Display (SID), the industry's most prestigious academic organization, demonstrating the technological prowess of "K-Display" to the world.
Samsung Display announced Monday that it won the Display of the Year award for its "tri-fold panel," which folds twice.
The award, the most prestigious honor selected by the society, is given to just one most innovative product among displays released the previous year that will lead the industry's future.
Samsung Display began full-scale mass production of the tri-fold display in September last year. With a total module thickness of 0.44 millimeters, it is the thinnest among the company's foldable panels while offering enhanced durability. The panel was featured in Samsung Electronics' "Galaxy Z TriFold," released in December last year.
With this recognition, Samsung Display set a record of winning the "Display of the Year" award a total of eight times, starting with a 5.68-inch flexible OLED in 2014. In the foldable display category in particular, it marked the third win following awards in 2020 and 2022.

LG Display also received the Display of the Year honor on the same day for its "27-inch 540/720 hertz (Hz) DFR OLED gaming monitor" panel.
The product applies LG Display's proprietary "Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR)" technology. Its key feature allows users to freely choose between high refresh rate and high resolution modes.
In high refresh rate mode, it supports 720Hz, the highest level currently available, enhancing gaming performance by eliminating afterimages and blurring. High resolution mode simultaneously delivers QHD resolution and a 540Hz refresh rate, providing an optimized visual experience.
Meanwhile, SID is the world's largest display academic conference, showcasing new technologies and products and presenting research papers each year. This year's event will be held in Los Angeles, U.S., on the 3rd of next month, with approximately 7,000 global display industry experts, researchers, and professors expected to attend.
