Korea Gas Corporation's (KOGAS) Jeju liquefied natural gas (LNG) division has received a presidential citation after being selected as the top-performing facility for establishing an integrated defense posture.
KOGAS said on the 24th that its Jeju LNG division received the presidential citation at the 59th Central Integrated Defense Council meeting held at the presidential guest house. The presidential citation for excellence in integrated defense is awarded to the single best-performing facility among approximately 500 nationally important facilities nationwide, based on a comprehensive evaluation of task implementation as national defense assets under the Integrated Defense Act.
The Jeju LNG division demonstrated its integrated defense capabilities as a nationally important facility by achieving excellent results across all 24 detailed items in eight categories, including △defense plan formulation △defense capability enhancement △defense personnel education and training. Specifically, the Jeju LNG division established a "scientific security system" utilizing CCTV and automatic tracking surveillance sensors, and developed a new "emergency traffic recovery task" to prepare for road bombing scenarios within the facility, establishing corresponding response plans.
"This award is an achievement made possible by the years of joint efforts by all employees at the Jeju LNG division and related agencies," KOGAS CEO Choi Yeon-hye said. "Going forward, we will ensure a firm integrated defense posture not only at the Jeju LNG division but at all operational sites, doing our utmost to maintain stable natural gas supply."
According to the Presidential Office, other recipients of the presidential citation on the day included South Jeolla Province, the Army's 36th Division, the 6th Marine Brigade, and the Gyeonggi Province Fire Department.
