Singer Lim Young-woong, marking the 10th anniversary of his debut, wrapped up the second day of his solo concert "IM HERO - THE STADIUM 2" at Goyang Sports Complex in Gyeonggi Province on the 5th.
The three-day run from the 4th to the 6th drew a total of about 95,000 people, according to his agency, Mulgogi Music.
With the stands filled with the sky-blue color of his fan club, Young Woong's Era, Lim opened the show with "Hate You," his debut single. "I took the stage thinking back to 10 years ago, as if I were debuting all over again," he said. "It is an honor to be with you on a special day, in a special place."
The concert was packed with spectacle. Along with past hits such as "Love Always Runs Away" and "Grain of Sand," Lim performed for the first time every track from his special album "IM HERO 10," due out on the 8th.
Large-scale staging drew particular attention, including "Ode to Life" performed against a water screen and a drone show that lit up the night sky. Working a runway stage that extended behind the audience seating, Lim urged the crowd to sing along, saying, "The only guest I want to invite is all of you."
He also reflected calmly on his decade as a singer. "There was a time when I tried to explain what each song meant," he said. "But now, rather than making up a story, I want to borrow my voice to tell each listener's own story." He sang numbers including "The Story of an Elderly Couple in Their 60s" with tears welling in his eyes.
Lim performed 29 songs over three hours, closing the concert by saying, "I want to spend the next 10 years with you as well."
The large concert also kept commercial districts around Goyang busy all day. To ease traffic congestion, the city ran shuttle buses between Kintex Station and the venue to disperse the crowds.
