Skies will be mostly clear and temperatures cool across South Korea on the 6th, with rain expected in some regions.
Morning lows will range from 15 to 23 degrees Celsius and daytime highs from 25 to 31 degrees, the Korea Meteorological Administration said on the 5th. In central regions, including Seoul at 19 degrees, Chuncheon at 16, Daejeon at 18 and Sejong at 17, morning temperatures will fall below 20 degrees. Daytime highs will also stay under 30 degrees in most of the country, except for a few areas such as Gwangju at 30 degrees.
Mountainous areas of Gangwon Province and the northern east coast of North Gyeongsang Province will be cloudy, with drizzle in some places. Rain will spread to the Gangwon east coast and the northern east coast of North Gyeongsang from the afternoon, and to the southern east coast of North Gyeongsang, Busan, Ulsan and inland eastern South Gyeongsang from the evening.
Expected rainfall is 5 to 10 millimeters along the Gangwon east coast and mountains, inland eastern areas of Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang, and the east coast and northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang. Jeju Island's mountains and mid-mountain areas will get 20 to 60 millimeters, and its coastal areas 5 to 20 millimeters.
Strong winds will blow nationwide as the pressure gap widens between a high-pressure system north of the Korean Peninsula and a typhoon to the south. Strong wind advisories are in effect for the southern coast of South Jeolla Province, coastal areas of the Gyeongsang region, areas near Mount Jiri and Jeju Island, where high winds are forecast for some time, prompting calls for caution over facility management and safety accidents.
Waves will run high, reaching 1.0 to 4.0 meters in coastal waters of the East Sea, 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West Sea and 0.5 to 4.0 meters in the South Sea. Swells will wash over breakwaters in places along the east coast, the southern coast of South Gyeongsang Province and Jeju Island's shores for some time, and people should avoid going near the water.
