Dong-A Socio Group Holds Joint Fire Drill at Seoul Headquarters

Dong-A Socio Group carried out a joint fire drill simulating an actual blaze to strengthen employees' initial response and emergency evacuation capabilities.

The group said it held the joint in-house fire brigade drill and fire evacuation exercise for employees on the morning of the 11th at its headquarters in Seoul's Dongdaemun district.

Employees from Dong-A Socio Holdings (000640), Dong-A ST, Dong-A Pharmaceutical, DAI and Dong-A Otsuka took part, along with staff from partner companies stationed at the site.

The group designated one floor of the building as the fire origin and ran the drill on that premise. Elevators were shut down during the exercise, and initial firefighting training using a simulated fire and smoke extinguishers was conducted at the same time.

On the designated fire floor, the in-house fire brigade's emergency notification team, initial firefighting team and evacuation guidance team each carried out their assigned duties of relaying the situation, suppressing the fire and directing evacuation. Employees moved to an emergency assembly point as instructed, and the drill also tested procedures for checking which occupants had not evacuated on each floor and reporting them to the command and control team.

To reduce smoke inhalation injuries in a fire, the group distributed fire evacuation handkerchiefs to employees and partner company staff and trained them on proper use.

Officials from the Yongdu 119 Safety Center of the Dongdaemun Fire Station also joined the drill, reviewing the initial response system and evacuation procedures and instructing participants on the role of the in-house fire brigade and initial response techniques needed in an actual fire.

"This was a practice-oriented drill run in line with actual response procedures, from emergency notification to initial firefighting, evacuation guidance and headcount checks," an official at Dong-A Socio Group said. "Through continued fire evacuation drills, we will strengthen employees' emergency response capabilities and build a safe workplace."
