Yuyu Pharma (000220) is turning to a virtual employee generated by artificial intelligence to step up communication with investors, moving away from investor relations presentations built around dense numbers and static documents.
The company said on the 7th that it had released an IR video produced with AI. Yuyu Pharma described the move as an unusual step in the conservative pharmaceutical industry, where AI-based IR videos are rarely used to reach investors.
The video covers the company's key management developments and future growth drivers, including an analysis of first-half gains in revenue, operating profit and net profit, along with progress on its shift to a smart factory and its pet business.
Rather than simply listing earnings figures or showing still images, the video adopts a storytelling format in which an AI-generated Yuyu Pharma employee delivers the presentation, aiming to make the company's operations easier for investors to follow. The video is available on Yuyu Pharma's website, YouTube and LinkedIn.
Earnings have also continued to improve. On a separate basis, Yuyu Pharma posted first-half revenue of 54 billion won, up 19.7% from a year earlier. Operating profit rose 109.3% to 9.2 billion won and net profit jumped 252.9% to 7.8 billion won, marking what the company called triple growth across all three measures.
Yuyu Pharma is also moving faster on shareholder returns. In June, the company retired all of its treasury shares, including both common and preferred stock, in a bid to boost returns and corporate value.
The company plans to expand AI-based IR beyond a one-off experiment into a regular channel for investor communication. It is also planning content in which the chief executive appears directly to explain the company's operations and growth strategy.
"We decided to produce the AI-based IR video to deepen investors' understanding of Yuyu Pharma's corporate value and future growth drivers, and to help them make reasonable investment decisions," Chief Executive Park No-yong said. "By continuing to produce and release IR videos, we will reduce information asymmetry and allow investors to assess Yuyu Pharma's growth potential."
