
Intellisia, a startup developing artificial intelligence synthetic consumer technology, said on the 3rd it has raised 3.4 billion won in pre-Series A funding. Kakao Ventures led the round, with Murex Partners and Capstone Partners participating.
Intellisia operates The Survey, an AI research platform that uses AI trained on real consumer data to generate hundreds of thousands of virtual consumers and conduct surveys and interviews with them. The platform's reproduction rate — a measure of how closely responses from AI synthetic consumers match actual survey results — averaged more than 90% based on the company's own verification.
Synthetic consumer technology builds virtual consumers with specific traits and behavioral patterns from consumer data, then applies their responses to product and marketing research. Intellisia sells services to corporate clients by cutting the panel recruitment and fieldwork time required for conventional consumer research and allowing the same survey to be repeated under identical conditions.
The company plans to use the proceeds to refine its synthetic consumer technology and develop services for overseas markets. It aims to raise the reproduction rate for consumer panels outside South Korea to about 95%. It is also developing technology to predict and reproduce market indicators such as consumers' prior preferences and sales figures, in addition to survey responses.
Intellisia is expanding abroad as well. It will launch a global software-as-a-service platform in the fourth quarter and enter the U.S. and Japanese markets next year. The company is also widening its scope beyond consumer research into simulation. Parastore, a digital twin solution in which synthetic consumers shop in a virtual store, is set to begin testing with BGF Retail.
"With this funding, we will expand technology development in world simulation and support our clients' overseas expansion and product launches," said Baek Seung-kook, chief executive of Intellisia. "We will broaden our business into decision-making solutions that can explore and simulate new demand, not just conduct surveys."
