Kakao (035720.KS) said Tuesday it has introduced the "Chaegieum Card," a Talk Digital Card that allows users to access the Chaegieum service through the KakaoTalk Wallet. The service is overseen by the National Library of Korea under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Chaegieum is a membership card provided by Kakao in the form of a Talk Digital Card, offering access to participating Chaegieum libraries across the country. Users can borrow books at about 3,000 libraries nationwide without installing a separate app or carrying a physical membership card.
Users can issue the "Chaegieum Card" by entering the "Wallet" from the "More" tab within KakaoTalk, then selecting the Talk Digital Card in the "Issue" menu or choosing it from the recommended card list.
The issued Chaegieum Card is stored in the KakaoTalk Wallet and can be used without a separate physical membership card. It provides a barcode that can be used in place of a membership card when visiting a library, and also supports a loan inquiry function that allows users to check the status of currently borrowed books in real time. In addition, it offers functions to check registered libraries and search for books through a link to the Chaegieum service homepage.
"By introducing the Chaegieum service to the KakaoTalk Wallet, more users can now use library services easily and conveniently," said Lee Jung-beom, leader of Kakao's Wallet Tribe. "We will continue to work to contribute to the revitalization of public digital services in line with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's policy to expand the opening of digital services."
