Hwacheon County in Gangwon Province said on the 8th that it will operate the 18-hole park golf course at the Yongam-ri Sports Park in Hanam-myeon exclusively for county residents starting on the 10th.
The residents-only course is one of the key campaign pledges of Hwacheon County Governor Kim Se-hoon. The county selected the Yongam-ri Sports Park course after conducting a survey of local park golf association members.
Residents can use the course free of charge without a reservation, simply by presenting identification on site. Residents who want to play with visitors from outside the county can use other courses, including the Sancheoneo, Rose and Sanae park golf courses.
Access to the course may be temporarily restricted when national tournaments or other events are held. Closure schedules will be announced online in advance.
"The dedicated course was created to reduce waiting times for residents and provide a stable playing environment for the local community," a county official said. "We will continue to actively reflect users' opinions to build a pleasant sports environment."
Hwacheon County operates five park golf courses in total, including the Yongam-ri Sports Park course, the Sancheoneo No. 1 and No. 2 courses, the Sanae course and the Rose course.
