FIFA has postponed an on-site inspection of the Korea Football Association.
The association said on the 2nd that it had received notice the previous day from FIFA that the inspection team's visit to Korea would be delayed for internal reasons.
FIFA will internally review the timing of the visit and discuss it with the Asian Football Confederation before informing the association again, the KFA said.
FIFA had sent a letter to the association on Aug. 21, jointly with the AFC, requesting documents related to the activities of the K-Football Innovation Committee. While the association was preparing the materials, FIFA notified it late last month that it intended to visit Korea in person to conduct an on-site inspection.
The FIFA inspection team had originally planned a three-day visit to the association during the second week of September.
The K-Football Innovation Committee is a temporary body launched in July this year in response to calls for reform in Korean soccer that emerged after the 2026 World Cup in North and Central America. It was formed under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and is co-chaired by Park Ji-sung, a member of a FIFA committee, and Ryu Seung-min, president of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee.
The committee is discussing tasks aimed at strengthening the medium- to long-term competitiveness of Korean soccer, including an overhaul of governance, youth player development and the introduction of advanced technology systems.
