Son Heung-min (LAFC) scored in his third consecutive match in Major League Soccer (MLS), leading his team to a fourth straight win.
Son netted the opening game-winning goal in the fifth minute of the first half in the 2026 MLS regular season Round 18 home match against Sporting Kansas City, held at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on the 26th (Korea time).
It was Son's third MLS goal this season. After struggling to score in the regular season since the MLS opener in February, Son recorded his first goal against LA Galaxy on the 18th of this month, his first match following the break for the 2026 North and Central American World Cup. He then scored in three consecutive matches, including against Real Salt Lake on the 23rd and again in this game.
This marks Son's first goal streak of three or more consecutive MLS matches in about 10 months, since he scored in four straight matches in September last year. Including his two goals in the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Champions Cup, Son's total goals in official matches this season rose to five.
Buoyed by contributions from Son and Denis Bouanga, who recorded two goals and one assist, LAFC defeated Kansas City 4-0 to extend their league winning streak to four and climb to second place in the Western Conference with 33 points. Starting as a forward and pairing with Bouanga and David Martinez in the attacking line, Son opened the scoring just five minutes into the match against Kansas City, the bottom team in the Western Conference with 14 points. On a counterattack, Son won the ball after an opponent tackled a pass from Timothy Tillman, then drove into the penalty area and found the net with a right-footed shot.
