Hanwha Aerospace faces a labor inspection after operating hiring guidelines that discriminated against applicants based on age and educational background.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor said it will begin an inspection on the 16th covering Hanwha Aerospace's entire hiring system, including job postings and internal screening criteria.
Hanwha Aerospace was found to have run internal hiring guidelines containing discriminatory provisions, such as setting an upper age limit for applicants to entry-level positions and restricting eligibility to graduates of universities in certain regions. Current law governing hiring procedures and the employment of older workers prohibits unreasonable discrimination based on age or the school an applicant attended when those factors are unrelated to job performance.
The ministry said it will determine whether any part of the hiring process violated the law and will take stern action if violations are found.
