GOYANG — National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital is seeking a new cooperation model to deliver essential medical care in its region on a stable basis.
The hospital said on the 28th that it will hold the 2026 Insurer Hospital Policy Forum at 2 p.m. on September 3 at Sono Calm Goyang. The forum's theme is "A New Search for Health Care Governance to Complete Regional Essential Medical Care," and it was arranged to discuss cooperation measures that would effectively link regional medical resources.
A law on guaranteeing regional essential medical care was recently enacted, laying the institutional groundwork for building a self-sufficient regional care system. The forum will focus on essential care governance by region and the role of hub institutions, capacity building at responsible medical institutions, and a cooperation model for the northwestern Gyeonggi area.
Presentations will be given by Ok Min-su, a professor of preventive medicine at the University of Ulsan; Yu Won-seop, head of the Public Health and Medical Services Division at the National Medical Center; and Kim Jung-hoe, a center director at the Health Policy Research Office of the National Health Insurance Service's Health Insurance Research Institute. Yoon Seok-jun, chairman of the Korean Society for Preventive Medicine, will moderate the panel discussion that follows. Officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, medical institutions and experts in public health and health care will take part to discuss policy and on-the-ground challenges.
As a model hospital directly run by the insurer, Ilsan Hospital has set standards for medical services based on health insurance data and supported the testing and diffusion of major health care policies. It has also built experience strengthening the essential care cooperation system in northwestern Gyeonggi as a regional responsible medical institution. Drawing on that experience, the hospital plans to explore ways to build a sustainable self-sufficient regional care system.
"To provide the essential medical care that a region needs on a stable basis, a cooperation system that effectively links the functions and capabilities of each institution is important," Ilsan Hospital Director Han Chang-hoon said. "I hope this forum becomes an occasion to jointly explore health care governance suited to local conditions and the direction for developing a sustainable self-sufficient regional care system."
