Seongdong-gu in Seoul is recruiting 60 participants for its "Village Gardener Training Program," in which residents personally cultivate gardens in their living areas, on a first-come, first-served basis starting the 27th.
The training runs from August 20 to November 6, combining theory with on-site practice. Those who complete the program will be appointed as "Seongdong-gu Village Gardeners" and will participate in creating and maintaining local gardens.
The training consists of garden design, plant management, maintenance practice, and a tour of the Seoul International Garden Show. The tuition fee is 30,000 won.
Any Seongdong-gu resident interested in gardening can apply through the district office website.
The district has trained 227 village gardeners since 2024. They manage everyday gardens across four zones and work to spread a resident-participatory garden culture.
