
A teenage male who attacked a high school girl with a knife in a residential area of Hwagok-dong, Gangseo District, Seoul, has been detained.
On the 25th, Seoul Southern District Court Judge Oh Ha-na conducted a pre-detention interrogation of Hong, who faces charges of attempted murder, that afternoon and issued a detention warrant, citing "a risk of evidence destruction and flight."
Hong, a high school student, is accused of wielding a knife against a woman of similar age and injuring her in a multi-unit housing area in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo District, Seoul, at around 1:26 p.m. on the 23rd of this month.
The victim, who suffered an abdominal injury, was conscious when she was taken to a hospital and is receiving treatment. According to police, Hong and the victim were acquainted with each other.
Police plan to investigate Hong regarding the motive for the crime and the circumstances of the incident.
