A fire broke out on the 13th floor of a 20-story apartment building in Eoeum-ri, Eonyang-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, at around 11:52 a.m. Wednesday and was extinguished about 30 minutes later.
When the fire started, 27 residents evacuated the building on their own, but no casualties were reported, authorities confirmed. The unit where the fire broke out was completely burned.
Fire authorities, who responded to the report, deployed 18 pieces of equipment and 51 personnel to fight the blaze. The fire was brought under initial control at around 12:19 p.m., 27 minutes after it started, and was fully extinguished at around 12:21 p.m.
Fire authorities believe the fire started from an unknown cause in the living room of the unit.
Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the detailed extent of the property damage.
