Pocheon, a city in Gyeonggi Province, is mobilizing its party and government as "one team" to secure state and provincial funding for five key projects, including the establishment of a K-AI advanced defense industry cluster.
According to Pocheon on Friday, the city held the first party-government consultative meeting of its ninth popularly elected administration in the municipal conference room the previous day to discuss cooperation measures for resolving local issues. The meeting was attended by Pocheon Mayor Baek Young-hyun, senior public officials, National Assembly member Kim Yong-tae (People Power Party), and city and provincial council members.
The meeting focused on securing next year's state and provincial budget. Participants agreed that the party and government would respond as "one team" throughout the process, from the central government's budget planning stage to the National Assembly's deliberations. The goal is to create a "Pride Pocheon" where citizens experience a happy daily life.
The city requested party-level support for five priority projects.
Specifically, they include: creating a living-oriented garden city; building a K-AI advanced defense industry cluster; educational innovation and designation of a peace economy special zone; establishing a smart livestock complex; and expanding metropolitan transportation network infrastructure. The city asked for the party's active cooperation to ensure smooth budget acquisition and implementation of these projects.
Mayor Baek said, "This party-government consultative meeting is an important process for producing tangible results in regional development based on close cooperative relations." He added, "Through nonpartisan cooperation and continuous communication, we will complete changes that citizens can feel in their daily lives."
Kim said, "At a time of crisis in the livelihood economy, communication between the party and government is more important than ever." He added, "We will do our best to ensure that major projects are carried out in a timely manner."
The city plans to operate a permanent nonpartisan cooperation system by sector going forward and to concentrate its administrative capabilities on securing the 2027 budget and advancing the key projects of its ninth elected administration through coordination with the central government, Gyeonggi Province, and the National Assembly.
