The Public Procurement Service (PPS) is training young experts to work in the global procurement market.
The PPS held the opening ceremony for its "2026 Overseas Procurement Market Specialist Training Program" at the KT Daejeon Human Resources Development Institute on Sunday, the agency said.
The overseas procurement market specialist training program is designed to develop young people's capabilities and expertise for entering global procurement markets, including foreign governments, public institutions and international organizations. The program features a curriculum focused on hands-on practice and fieldwork applicable to actual job settings.
The global procurement market is a promising sector with a competitive market size reaching 2 trillion dollars. However, there is a shortage of personnel with specialized expertise relative to the demand for market entry, and Korean companies often face difficulties entering the global procurement market.
In particular, this year's training program, which selects 60 trainees, drew a record 209 applicants, confirming the strong demand among young people for overseas B2G jobs.
The training program will be conducted as a residential course over the month of July. It provides comprehensive education needed to enter the global procurement market, including trade and overseas sales practices, as well as vendor registration with foreign institutions, drafting of bid proposals and contract conclusion.
Starting this year, the program will newly introduce training reflecting field trends, such as AI-powered content production and strategy development for overseas expansion. The PPS also plans to actively support trainees' career development, including awarding commendations from the PPS commissioner to outstanding trainees.
"We will provide substantial education so that trainees can be born as top-tier specialists," said Lee Hyung-sik, planning and coordination officer at the PPS.
