The Korea Forest Service conducted a joint on-site inspection with relevant agencies at a power transmission line construction site in Jincheon County, North Chungcheong Province, on Monday, in preparation for heavy summer rainfall.
Officials from the Korea Forest Service, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and the project operator focused on inspecting forest land management practices and the implementation of disaster prevention measures at project sites, including transmission towers and access roads currently under construction.
The inspection also covered the maintenance status of drainage systems on steep slopes and cut-and-fill embankments, where the risk of landslides is high during heavy rainfall, as well as the implementation of slope stabilization measures. Management practices for sections vulnerable to soil runoff were intensively reviewed.
"Power transmission networks are critical infrastructure indispensable to public life and industrial activities," said Cho Young-hee, Director General of the Forest Welfare Bureau at the Korea Forest Service. "We will strengthen field-based preemptive inspections and management."
