President Lee Jae-myung said on the 18th that he has "not yet reached a final conclusion" on whether to appoint Kim Seung-won as justice minister.
Lee made the remarks at a news conference held at the Blue House, responding to a question about the nomination. "The more appointments I make, the more difficult I find them," he said. "The standards for appointments and the grounds for judgment all differ. I believe I made the best possible selections, but I am also seeing various controversies emerge during the public vetting process."
He added: "I will make a careful decision, taking into account the many issues and criticisms raised during that process, as well as the capabilities of the nominees and the expectations of the public."
The news conference began at 10:30 a.m. under the slogan "Listening More Closely to the Will and Lives of the People." It was Lee's seventh news conference since taking office.
