Yong Hye-in, the nominee for minister of gender equality and family, said on the 13th that she was withdrawing from consideration.
At a news conference at the National Assembly, Yong said, "I accepted the ministerial nomination in the spirit of solidarity and of achieving gender equality for all." She added, "But after being informed by the Democratic Party that there was not much public consensus on holding a proportional-representation seat and a ministerial post at the same time, I concluded after much deliberation that stopping here was the path toward solidarity within the democratic and progressive camp."
