NICE, France — President Lee Jae-myung arrived in the southern French city of Nice on the 6th to attend the Lumiere Summit, an international gathering of leaders in the film and audiovisual industries.
Lee will attend the summit on the 7th in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a small town near Nice, serving as co-chair alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. About 150 participants from some 30 countries are expected, including senior executives and policymakers in film, broadcasting and gaming, political leaders and figures from the arts.
Participants will discuss challenges and opportunities facing the film and audiovisual content industry. They plan to agree on concrete action plans on the impact of artificial intelligence, early media education and the industry's economic models.
Before departing, Lee wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he would explore the future of the film and audiovisual industries and further expand cultural and content cooperation between the two countries. "In France, where cinema was born, we will write a new drama together for K-culture and the global film and audiovisual industry," he said.
Lee will then travel to Paris for a two-day state visit beginning on the 8th. His schedule includes a private luncheon and summit talks with Macron, as well as a business roundtable involving companies from both countries.
