President Lee Jae-myung will visit France from the 6th to the 9th at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, the presidential office said.
Wi Sung-lac, director of the National Security Office, announced the plan at a briefing at Cheong Wa Dae on the 4th. He said the trip follows Macron's invitation for Lee to serve as co-chair of the Lumiere Summit and a proposal for a state visit to France, both extended when Macron visited South Korea in April.
Lee will arrive in France on the evening of the 6th and attend the Lumiere Summit, an international film and video summit, in Saint-Paul-de-Vence in southern France on the 7th. He will then spend two days in Paris starting the 8th on a bilateral state visit. His first engagement will be laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe, followed by an official welcoming ceremony hosted by the French government.
Lee will then hold a one-on-one luncheon with Macron at the Elysee Palace, followed by an expanded summit attended by delegations from both countries. He will also attend a Korea-France business roundtable involving about 20 companies from the two nations. In the evening, he will attend a state dinner hosted by Macron and his wife at the Elysee Palace.
On the final day, the 9th, Lee will meet French National Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivet, hold a luncheon meeting with the Korean community in France and receive OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann before returning home.
