The MND Agency for KIA Recovery & Identification (MAKRI) said on the 27th that it has officially appointed Minho, a member of the K-pop group SHINee, as its new public relations ambassador.
Minho attended the appointment ceremony held at Seoul National Cemetery in Seoul's Dongjak district, paid tribute at the memorial tower and visited the agency's identification center for a briefing on the status of efforts to recover the remains of soldiers killed in the 1950-53 Korean War.
As ambassador, Minho will take part in the agency's major events and contribute his talents to promoting policies related to the recovery of Korean War casualties' remains.
"The military service that gave me positive energy and mental strength remains a good memory, and I feel both pride and a heavy sense of responsibility at being able to join this noble mission of bringing home those who sacrificed themselves for the country," Minho said.
Previous ambassadors for the agency include professor Seo Kyoung-duk in 2016, actor Park Ha-sun in 2018, actor Shin Goo in 2020, broadcaster Song Hae in 2021, BTS member RM in 2023 and Korean history lecturer Choi Tae-sung in 2024. Song died in 2022.
