The Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) said on the 9th that it has introduced an AI-based work support system for screening auction and public sale properties acquired for its Deundeun Jeonse Housing program, a public rental housing scheme that offers homes under jeonse, a Korean lease system in which tenants pay a large refundable deposit instead of monthly rent.
Using an automated AI analysis program, HUG now extracts information needed for preliminary screening — including housing type and property rights — from real estate registry documents and generates standardized documents in batches. Previously, staff checked each registry document individually and entered the information by hand.
In a pilot run, the time needed to prepare basic preliminary screening documents for a single registry document fell to 10 seconds from about two minutes and 30 seconds, a 93% reduction in processing time.
HUG plans to expand the scope of automated analysis to appraisal reports and property sale statements, and to build an AI-based platform to support auction and public sale screening.
