HDC Hyundai Development (294870) is moving to identify promising new technologies and test them at construction sites, part of an effort to strengthen its smart construction capabilities and jointly develop technology with partner firms.
The company said on the 7th that it had selected four firms in the smart construction and new technology categories at the 2026 IPARK Technology Proposal Contest.
The contest, held for the sixth year, drew 114 proposals centered on smart construction technologies including artificial intelligence, big data, drones, the Internet of Things and building information modeling. After a document review and final presentations, judges named one grand prize winner, one first prize winner and two second prize winners.
The grand prize went to Semper M, which proposed smart parking infrastructure technology that makes more efficient use of underground space. Magenta Robotics took first prize for an autonomous painting robot based on physical AI. Second prizes went to Mijin Precision, which proposed a system to prevent gang forms from falling, and to J Paper, which presented a technology for repairing cracks and joints using wet paper tape.
The selected companies will receive funding for proof-of-concept testing, with the grand prize winner eligible for up to 50 million won. HDC Hyundai Development plans to apply the technologies at actual construction sites to verify their performance and commercial viability before broadening their use. Follow-up cooperation, including technology upgrades and joint patent applications, is also planned.
"We will support the selected companies so they can verify their technologies in the field and produce tangible results," an official at HDC Hyundai Development said.
