An international conference on how self-driving technology and artificial intelligence can be used safely and conveniently in daily life will be held in Seoul on the 7th and 8th.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 6th that it will host the 2026 Global Mobility Conference at the Westin Josun Seoul together with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) and the International Transport Forum (ITF) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Global mobility companies, experts and international organizations will gather to examine the changes and challenges arising from the commercialization and everyday adoption of advanced mobility technologies such as self-driving systems and AI, and to discuss policy and industry directions.
This year's theme, "Innovation into Everyday Life: Innovation Leading the Age of Adaptation," reflects an effort to find policy and regulatory responses that turn mobility innovation from a technological possibility into something the public experiences in daily life.
Keynote speakers on the first day include Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Gung-sun, Waymo Managing Director Steven Han and NVIDIA Senior Director Gaurav Agarwal, who will speak on the expansion of self-driving mobility and on safe mobility defined by AI.
The second day will focus on the future direction of mobility from a range of perspectives including technology, safety and industry, along with ways for countries to cooperate in expanding mobility innovation.
Participants include global private companies such as Hyundai Motor Group, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Kakao Mobility, Waymo, NVIDIA, Pony.ai and Archer, as well as major research institutions including Germany's MCube future mobility innovation cluster and China Academy of Transportation Sciences (CATS).
International organizations including the ITF, the U.N. Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), ACI World and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) will also hold in-depth discussions on mobility policy directions and global cooperation.
"Mobility innovation led by self-driving technology and artificial intelligence is already happening throughout our daily lives, but we must now make a bigger leap to a level that all citizens can experience," Land Minister Kim Yoon-duck said.
