
LS ELECTRIC (010120.KS) is moving into the artificial intelligence data center infrastructure market with KT Cloud.
LS ELECTRIC said on the 3rd that it signed a memorandum of understanding with KT Cloud on the 2nd at LS Yongsan Tower in Seoul to build a strategic partnership in AI data centers. The two companies will expand cooperation on power equipment design and supply as well as next-generation technology exchanges, aiming to strengthen their competitiveness as AI data centers grow larger and more power-intensive.
LS ELECTRIC Chief Executive Chae Dae-seok and KT Cloud Chief Executive Kim Bong-kyun attended the signing ceremony along with other officials from both companies.
The two companies will jointly research core power solutions for modular data centers optimized for next-generation AI data center environments, collaborating from the initial design stage. Modular data centers use standardized server rooms, power supply networks and cooling modules that are precision-built at a factory and then assembled and installed on site. The approach shortens construction time compared with conventional reinforced concrete building methods and makes expansion easier.
LS ELECTRIC will supply core power equipment, including ultra-high-voltage transformers, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and switchboards, for new AI data center projects being built by KT Cloud. It also plans to deliver uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units and air-conditioning systems.
"As the spread of generative AI drives an explosive increase in power demand, stable and efficient high-power infrastructure technology has become the core competitive edge that determines whether a data center succeeds or fails," an LS ELECTRIC official said. "Through our partnership with KT Cloud, we will strengthen our ability to respond to next-generation AI data center technology and solidify our market dominance."
LS ELECTRIC also supplies ultra-high-voltage transformers and high-voltage power distribution systems for hyperscale AI data centers being developed by major North American tech companies.
