Woori Financial Capital is expanding exchanges between its head office and branches nationwide through in-house sports programs, part of a push to embed what the company calls a "One Team" corporate culture.
The company said on the 27th that it is holding its third in-house billiards tournament to strengthen communication and cohesion among employees. Staff from the head office and branches across the country are taking part.
The tournament is organized as a division-by-division knockout competition, moving through preliminary rounds and a round of 16 before the final on the 3rd of next month. Now in its third year, the event was launched to give head office and branch employees, who have few points of contact in their daily work, a natural setting to interact and build ties across the organization.
Chief Executive Ki Dong-ho will present the awards in person at the final, to be held at the company's head office in Seoul's Gangnam district on the 3rd of next month. Players from Woori WON Weebis, the company's professional billiards team, will also attend. Pro players including Sruong Pheavy, Eom Sang-pil and Kang Min-gu are scheduled to serve as match referees and take part in signing sessions and other events for employees.
"This billiards tournament is a valuable opportunity for employees scattered across the country to communicate with one another and come together as one team through the common denominator of sports," the CEO said. "We will continue to build a healthy and energetic corporate culture so that the positive energy and vitality our employees gain can carry over into warm, inclusive finance for customers and differentiated financial services."
