Visa, the global payments technology company, said on the 26th that it has named Kunal Chatterjee as its new president overseeing operations in South Korea and Mongolia. Chatterjee will lead business strategy for the two markets, expand partnerships and drive growth in digital payments.
Chatterjee earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Delhi University in India and completed an MBA at Newcastle University in Britain. He has spent about 20 years at Visa, building experience across the payments industry.
During that time, he handled a range of roles in the Asia-Pacific region, including innovation, client management, advisory services and market strategy. Most recently, he served as head of merchant solutions sales and value-added services for Visa Asia-Pacific, where he led the commercialization and sale of payment solutions to merchants, acquirers and partners.
"Kunal Chatterjee is a payments industry veteran with experience across diverse fields, and he has delivered outstanding business results," said Arturo Planell, group president for Japan, Korea and Mongolia at Visa. "We expect him to further strengthen partnerships in the Korean and Mongolian markets and to drive continued growth in digital commerce."
