Coupang Fulfillment CEO Inspects Sites Ahead of Heat Wave to Prevent Heat Illness

Coupang Fulfillment Services (CFS) executives are accelerating on-site safety inspections during the hot season to prevent heat-related illnesses ahead of the peak summer heat.

Coupang said Wednesday that CFS CEO Jung Jong-chul visited the Icheon 2 Center on the 25th, followed by the Incheon 4 Center the next day, to inspect the company's response to the hot season and the management of on-site safety and health. Jung handed out iced drinks and gifts to encourage employees on-site and checked whether heat wave preparedness measures were working properly in the field.

CFS has continued to invest in cooling facilities and other equipment to effectively prevent heat illness during the hot season. The company is continuously expanding its "HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) project," which lowers temperatures in centers' intensive work zones through investments of tens of billions of won each year. The company explained that it is creating a comfortable working environment by installing cold-air sealed doors that block outside heat and significantly expanding ventilation facilities such as ceiling fans, circulators and large fans.

CFS also provides customized heat wave response items for on-site employees. The company supplies field workers with hot-season kits as well as cooling gear including cooling vests, cool arm sleeves, cooling patches and neck coolers. It also continues to conduct heat illness prevention education through on-site safety training before work.

"Based on field-centered management, CFS will continue to strengthen its investment in cooling infrastructure and professional preventive management so that all on-site employees can spend this summer safely and healthily," Jung said.
