The Korea Tourism Organization said on the 7th that it held the 2026 Mongolia Korea Medical Tourism Roadshow in Ulaanbaatar and Dalanzadgad from the 4th to the 6th to attract medical tourists from the country.
The organization met with the Mongolian National Mining Association, whose member companies employ some 90,000 workers, and proposed introducing essential health screenings and specialized wellness programs tailored to those workers. It also discussed tailored medical tourism packages with Genghis Khan Sovereign Wealth Fund, the state-owned holding company that oversees Mongolia's strategic mines, and 17 mining companies under it.
Mining is Mongolia's largest economic base, accounting for 94% of total exports and 30% of gross domestic product. The organization arranged the roadshow after noting demand for medical tourism among mining officials there.
At a Korea Medical Tourism Night event in Ulaanbaatar on the 4th, the organization also signed a memorandum of understanding with Mandal Financial Group to promote medical tourism trips to Korea. Mandal Financial Group is a financial institution that holds about 90% of Mongolia's asset management market. The organization plans to develop and offer Korea medical tourism packages for Mandal's 260,000 customers.
"This roadshow gave us the chance to hold a series of meetings with major local institutions and financial firms, including the Mongolian National Mining Association," Korea Tourism Organization President Park Sung-hyuk, who attended the event, said. "We will make every effort to attract medical tourists from among executives and employees in Mongolia's mining industry."
