Miky Lee, vice chair of CJ Group, will accompany President Lee Jae-myung to France as part of a business delegation. Lee, a pioneer of Korean culture exports and one of the world's leading content executives, is expected to attend the Lumiere Summit, a gathering of global content industry heavyweights, where she will work to cement the standing of Korean content and broaden the reach of Korean culture.
Lee recently confirmed her attendance at the summit, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter on the 3rd. The Korean government had made considerable efforts to secure her participation, sources said. Officials judged that having Lee attend as a representative figure of the Korean content industry was important, given that the event brings together major players from across the global content business.
The Lumiere Summit is an international summit on the film and audiovisual industries, to be held for the first time on the 7th in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France. Key figures from across the audiovisual sector — including film, broadcasting, streaming and gaming — will discuss how to respond to a rapidly changing industry landscape. President Lee Jae-myung and French President Emmanuel Macron will serve as co-chairs, and 189 participants from 51 countries are expected to attend. The agenda includes the impact of artificial intelligence on content creation and the industry, content investment and financing, protection of intellectual property, and shifts in audience behavior and the future of the theater business.
With broad discussions planned on the present and future of the content industry, Lee's role is expected to go beyond mere attendance. She has expanded CJ's film, drama and music businesses into overseas markets, driving the global spread of Korean culture. Having built a global network spanning production, investment and distribution as Korean films, music and dramas gained competitiveness abroad, her meetings with global content leaders could themselves serve as a sales platform for Korean content, analysts said.
Arrangements are also under way for leading Korean directors and actors to join the trip. If creators and actors representing Korea take part alongside industry executives and global platform officials, the summit could become a stage that showcases both the industrial competitiveness and the creative capacity of Korean content.

Among those attending the summit are Dana Walden, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment at the Walt Disney Company, Alan Bergman, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, and Ted Sarandos, co-chief executive of Netflix, along with other key figures who shape the global content industry. Major Korean content industry officials, including from CJ ENM, are also expected to attend and hold wide-ranging discussions with global executives on co-production, content investment and distribution.
Expectations for the growth potential of Korean content are rising, particularly because top executives from global entertainment companies such as Netflix and Disney are taking part. Global entertainment industry figures are also preparing separate messages on Korean content and the Korean market. "I understand they will deliver a message about supporting Korea's creative ecosystem and about opportunities for more Korean creators and Korean stories to reach audiences around the world," one industry official said.
Korean content has expanded its influence in global markets through platforms such as Netflix and Disney+. The summit carries added significance because it comes at a moment when the industry must move beyond supplying content to expanding its leadership across global co-production, investment, intellectual property and AI. Lee, who has led the global spread of Korean culture, is expected to play a central role in solidifying the position of Korean content and in helping Korean culture take the lead alongside global content leaders.
