The Seoul Regional Trauma Center at the National Medical Center said on the 2nd that it recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung Medical Center's emergency medical center to cooperate on treating patients with severe trauma.
The agreement aims to build a system for training medical residents in severe trauma care and for transferring and transporting patients, in order to speed up treatment, raise survival rates and reduce preventable trauma deaths in the community. Under the agreement, the Seoul Regional Trauma Center will support severe trauma training for emergency medicine residents at Samsung Medical Center. The two institutions also plan to cooperate on establishing a patient transfer framework and a transport system for severe trauma patients after initial treatment.
"We will solidify our partnership with the National Medical Center and lead development and change in the field of severe trauma," said Shim Min-seop, head of Samsung Medical Center's emergency medical center.
Yoon Seok-hwa, head of the Seoul Regional Trauma Center, said the cooperation between the two institutions "will contribute to improving the quality of the regional care system for severe trauma."
