SK AX said on the 14th that it won a minister's award at a Ministry of Employment and Labor competition showcasing best practices in the government's corporate qualification recognition program, held during the Human Resource Development Conference at COEX Magok in Seoul on the 11th.
The award marks official state recognition of the expertise and effectiveness of the assessment built into SK AX's generative artificial intelligence competency certification program. Under the corporate qualification recognition program, the government formally recognizes in-house qualifications that companies run to improve their workers' job skills. SK AX had its self-developed generative AI training and certification courses, "AI Literacy" and "AI Bootcamp," recognized as Level 2 and Level 1 qualifications in generative AI application, respectively. It is the first and only case in South Korea to win government recognition in the field of AI competency certification.
AI Literacy is used to build and assess the generative AI skills needed for everyday work, including document drafting, data structuring, spreadsheet use and basic programming. AI Bootcamp trains AI specialists who can be deployed immediately at industrial sites, teaching them to build customized AI agents that link to in-house data and carry out tasks on their own. Both courses run on the latest AI models.
SK AX has also set up a management system to strengthen the fairness and reliability of certification results. Reflecting the safety, reliability and transparency principles of the AI Framework Act, which took effect in January, the company minimizes bias in writing test questions and in the evaluation process, and has people review and manage the final results. It advises all employees to label generative AI output and comply with ethics guidelines.
SK AX also runs the "SK AI Competency Model," an in-house qualification system that lets employees receive training systematically according to their jobs and their level of AI skills. The company plans to extend its AI competency certification framework to other companies and to educational institutions.
"This award recognizes the credibility and the practical value of the AI competency certification platform that SK AX built ahead of others," said Kim Min-hwan, head of SK AX's HRX initiative. "We will not stop at supporting our employees' growth in AI skills, but will keep developing this into an AI competency certification system that is trusted and used at industrial sites."
