MyRealTrip, one of South Korea's leading travel startups, is acquiring Creatrip, a platform serving foreign visitors to Korea.
MyRealTrip said its board approved the purchase of Creatrip shares at a meeting on the 11th. Creatrip will become a subsidiary of MyRealTrip within this year through a share swap.
MyRealTrip made a strategic investment in Creatrip in 2024 and is now buying out the remaining stake. The company has focused on outbound travel by Korean travelers and on domestic trips. Once the deal closes, it will expand into the inbound segment.
Founded in 2016, Creatrip is a leading inbound travel platform in Korea that introduces travel content and activities to foreign visitors and connects them to bookings through partnerships with local operators. It had 1.7 million monthly users as of April this year, ranking first in usage in Taiwan and second in the United States and Japan.
"MyRealTrip has pursued the goal of fully connecting the travel experience," MyRealTrip CEO Lee Dong-gun said. "With this acquisition, we will cover all three directions and grow into a platform that connects the entire journey of travelers at home and abroad." Creatrip CEO Lim Hye-min said, "This decision is a strategic choice to build greater growth on the inbound expertise Creatrip has accumulated over the past 10 years." Lim added, "We will further strengthen Creatrip's own brand identity and service competitiveness, and lead growth as Korea's leading inbound travel service that transforms the entire Korea trip for foreign travelers."
