
Space Lab, a company developing satellite propulsion systems, has raised seed funding from Bluepoint Partners, a deep-tech accelerator, according to The VC, a venture investment data platform, on the 9th. The investment amount and valuation were not disclosed.
Space Lab develops satellite propulsion systems using low-toxicity propellants and electrically controlled thrust technology. The company aims to build propulsion solutions for satellite attitude control and orbital maneuvers, as well as deorbiting after mission completion, rendezvous and docking, and in-orbit refueling.
Its core technology uses electrical signals to control ignition, shutdown, reignition and combustion of propellant. Unlike conventional solid propulsion, which is difficult to stop or restart once ignited, the system allows combustion timing and thrust to be actively adjusted depending on the mission. That approach combines the high thrust of chemical propulsion with the operational flexibility of electrical control.
The company plans to use the proceeds to develop an electrically controlled thruster for a secondary payload satellite on the sixth launch of the Nuri rocket, and to verify the technology in the space environment. It intends to gather data on ignition, operation and proximity maneuvers in actual orbit, and to use the results as a reference for commercializing its products to satellite manufacturers and operators at home and abroad.
HyperVisual AI Secures Seed Funding for AI Chip
HyperVisual AI, a startup developing hybrid AI semiconductors, has raised seed funding from The Invention Lab. The amount was not disclosed.
Founded in 2023, HyperVisual AI is developing Flint GPNPU, a hybrid AI chip that integrates a general-purpose graphics processing unit (GPGPU) and a neural processing unit (NPU) into a single processor architecture. By combining the two through a shared memory interface and other features, the design reduces the latency and power consumption that arise when copying data between processors.
HyperVisual AI is currently pursuing proof-of-concept (PoC) projects with makers of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) chips, CCTV chips and autonomous mobile robots (AMR). The company said it will use the funding to strengthen prototype production, upgrade its design intellectual property (IP) and expand customer PoC work.
Virtual Boy Group MY:RAKL to Expand IP
Accord Entertainment, the agency behind virtual boy group MY:RAKL, recently secured 2 billion won in pre-Series A funding. Smilegate, CNTTech and SM Culture Partners took part in the round. It is the first outside investment for Accord Entertainment, which was founded in June last year.
The company said it will use the 2 billion won to broaden its business base. Accord Entertainment plans to invest in upgrading its virtual production system, strengthening the competitiveness of its own IP, producing new content, expanding its global fandom and developing next-generation virtual projects.
