Lotte Innovate said on the 3rd that it has won a contract to operate a 40-megawatt data center in Ansan for Igis Asset Management, expanding its data center business.
The Ansan data center will be built with two basement levels and nine floors above ground, with power capacity of 40 megawatts. It marks the second project with Igis Asset Management, following a design, build and operate (DBO) contract for a 9.9-megawatt edge data center signed in February this year.
Lotte Innovate is moving faster into the market as demand for data centers grows with the spread of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The company plans to provide colocation services based on roughly two decades of experience building and operating four data centers of its own in Seoul, Yongin and Daejeon.
The company is also strengthening its technology capabilities in AI infrastructure using its own data centers. Lotte Innovate (286940.KS) is supporting a research project on heat management technology for carbon-neutral data centers, carried out by an industry-academic cooperation consortium led by Ajou University. Through the project, it is upgrading its technologies and service capabilities in areas such as heat management for high-density AI infrastructure environments.
Lotte Innovate plans to expand DBO and operations outsourcing business for external clients and to strengthen its portfolio across projects of varying scale and purpose, from edge data centers to AI and hyperscale facilities. It will also upgrade an end-to-end business structure that links IT equipment procurement, design and construction, and operations services. The company plans to build up its technological competitiveness in areas required for high-density AI infrastructure, including high-efficiency air conditioning and cooling solutions.
