Yuhan (000100) is moving into South Korea's joint health supplement market with a chondroitin ingredient that has won individual functional approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for joint and cartilage health.
The company said on the 31st that it will launch Yuhan Chondroitin 1200, a joint and cartilage health supplement, on September 1.
The product contains 1,200 mg of chondroitin sulfate — the full recommended daily intake — an individually approved functional ingredient (No. 2025-63) recognized by the ministry as able to help support joint and cartilage health.
It comes as a liquid stick, one 10-gram sachet a day. Unlike tablets and capsules that require taking several pieces at a time, a single sachet completes the daily dose, making it easier for middle-aged and older users who find swallowing pills difficult. Each sachet holds 10 kilocalories, and the company added ssanghwa and reishi mushroom concentrates to give it a taste closer to a traditional herbal drink.
Alongside chondroitin sulfate as the main ingredient, the formula includes hyaluronic acid, boswellia extract, fish collagen, vitamins and minerals as secondary ingredients.
"The joint supplement category carries so many different ingredients that consumers find it hard to compare the evidence and the dosages," a Yuhan official said. "Yuhan Chondroitin 1200 delivers the full daily intake while also making it easier to take."
